Pineapple juice is the most recommended when you have cough especially with phlegm as it contains strong properties that will act against it. According to studies done in India, pineapple juice contains vitamin C and bromelain which have the ability to reduce inflammation in the body and aid in the breakdown of bonds of mucous proteins, making it more fluid and easy to eliminate.

Other ingredients can also be added to the pineapple juice to make it more delicious and strengthen the immune system or decrease inflammation which will in turn relieve cough.

Ingredients

  • 1 slice pineapple
  • 1 cm ginger root
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

Preparation mode

Peel and cut the pineapple and ginger into pieces then put all the ingredients in a blender then blend until you obtain a homogenous mixture. Drink half a glass of the juice 2 to 3 times a day or whenever you experience a stronger cough.

This juice should only be taken by adults and children above 2 years. Pregnant women should only prepare the juice using 1g of ginger.

2. Pineapple, pepper and salt juice

Although this may seem like a strange mixture, a review done by natural remedies in the treatment of tuberculosis says that the mixture has strong properties which dissolve pulmonary mucus and relive cough.

This effect is related to the ability of the salt to absorb water, which in turn fluidises the phlegm. The capsaicin in pepper also has strong analgesic properties.

Ingredients

  • 1 slice of pineapple peeled and in pieces
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

3. Pineapple, strawberry and ginger juice
