Diane 35 is a type of medicine that is used in the treatment of female hormonal disorders. It contains 2.0mg ciproterone acetate and 0.035mg ethinilestradiol, which are the substances responsible for the reduction of hormone production responsible for ovulation and cervical changes.
The remedy is primarily indicated for the treatment of deep acne, excess hair and decreased menstrual flow. Despite having a contraceptive effect, it should not be used as a contraceptive method, when it is prescribed for some associated hormonal disorder.
What is it for?
Contents
Diane 35 is used in the treatment of acne, papulopustulosa acne, nodulocistic acne, mild cases of excess hair and polycystic ovary syndrome. It may also be used as a remedy to relieve cramps and reduce intense menstrual flow.
This drug should not be used excessively because of its contraceptive effect but only for the aforementioned problems.
How to take
Diane 35 should be taken from the first day of menstruation, taking 1 tablet a day at the same time with water, ensuring that you follow the direction of the arrows and days of the week until 21 units are complete.
After 7 days, a break should be taken. During this period, about 2 to 3 days after ingestion of the first pill, one may experience bleeding similar to menstruation. The beginning of a new card should be on the 8th day, even if bleeding continues to occur.
Diane 35 should be used for short periods, about 4 to 5 cycles depending on the underlying issue being treated. It should thus be discontinued after the condition causing hormonal disorder is treated or according to the guidelines of the gynaecologist.
What to do if you forget to take
If you forget to take the pills less than 12 hours before the usual time, it is recommended that you take the forgotten tablet as soon as you remember then rest at the usual time. It might be necessary to take two pills on the same day, but should not be a problem so long as the drug continues to have the desired effect.
If you forget to take the pill for more than 12 hours after the desired time, the effect of the remedy may be reduced, especially the contraceptive protection. In this case, you should do the following:
In the first week
If you forget to take the pill during the first week as indicated on the card, the skipped pill should be taken as soon as you remember then continue taking the others at their usual time. In addition, it is advisable yo use a condom for the next 7 days, because the contraceptive effect may no longer be effective. There may also be need to take a pregnancy test if there was any instance if unprotected sexual intercourse in week prior to you forgetting to take the pill.
In the second week
If the pill was forgotten during the second week, it should be taken as soon as you remember then continue taking the rest at their usual time. However, it may not be necessary to use any other contraceptive method as the effect will still be there and there is no risk of pregnancy.
In the third week onwards
When you forget to take the pill during the third week or after this period, there are two actions that may be taken:
- Take the forgotten tablet as soon as you remember and continue taking the next tablets at the usual time. After the end of the card, start the new one, without pausing in between one and the other. And in this case, menstruation will occur at the end of the second card.
- Stop taking the tablets from the current chart, take a break of 7 days, counting on the day of ovulation and start a new card.
In such cases it is not necessary to resort to a new contraceptive method as there is no risk of pregnancy.
However, if bleeding does not occur within 7 days after pausing between one card and another pill is forgotten, it may be a sign that the woman is pregnant. In this case, a pregnancy test should be taken.
